Where We are a boutique studio with a continental reach—bicoastal, yet local: Designer Jessica Fleischmann works out of a solar-powered studio near downtown Los Angeles. Writer Stephanie Fleischmann (yes, we are sisters!) heads the copy division, sister company Hudson WordShop, in New York City and upstate New York.
How We are good listeners who love to collaborate. We know that simplicity can be a complex matter and that embracing good design takes a certain kind of courage. We are passionate about breaking rules, but only because we know them inside out. We are committed to information flow. We take an integrated approach to problem solving. We believe that inventive design is, above all, a process. And that its success is always measured in concrete results.
Who Prior to establishing still room, principal and designer Jessica Fleischmann was Art Director of Western Interiors and Design magazine and design associate at Lorraine Wild Design (now Green Dragon Office). She received an MFA in Graphic Design from CalArts in 2001, after obtaining 2 liberal arts degrees and working in non-profit arts management as well as a chef and an art instructor. She teaches graphic design and typography at Otis College of Art and Design.
Her work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), Communication Arts, Graphis, the Maggie Awards, Mohawk, Print Magazine, Rockport Press, and the UCDA; and exhibited by the AIGA, CalArts, the Smithsonian/Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, Everyday Design, and the A+D Museum.
Writer Stephanie Fleischmann joins her sister Jessica to work on the endeavor that is stillroom with over fifteen years of experience as a freelance writer and copywriter, during which she wrote frequently for clients ranging from Martha Stewart Omnimedia to dbox to polo.com. She has written brochures and websites for numerous high-end real-estate developments as well grants for idiosyncratic theater projects. In her off hours, she extends her word-smithing to song lyrics, fiction, and plays.
